AAT Qualifications: Overview

You’ll study how to maintain cost bookkeeping records and how to prepare financial reports, as well as exploring the ethics that affect accountants in this industry. There are three featured levels of AAT qualification in Manchester:

  • AAT Level 2- Foundation Certificate in Accountancy: This course is ideal for new entrants into the accountancy sector

AAT Accounting - Level 2 Foundation Certificate

Course Overview

If you want to start training to work in accounting and financial management, our foundation level course will familiarise you to the fundamentals of the industry.

Course Requirements

This level of AAT qualification assumes no earlier knowledge. Students will study basic bookkeeping skills, and obtain an introduction to management accounting, and using accountancy software’s. Your numeracy and literacy skills are enough to do well on the course. You should have good maths and English literacy to commence the programme.

AAT Bookkeeping - Level 3 Advanced Certificate

Course Overview

Level 3 qualifications in accountancy offer you the chance to advance those skills gained at level 2. Through the study of final accounts preparation, management accountancy and VAT, you will increase confidence in industry practice.

Course Requirements

To get into level 3 of the AAT qualification, basic accountancy skills are required. Students learn about modification required to prepare a set of final accounts. You will also study advance management accountancy skills and an introduction to VAT. You are expected to have GCSE maths and English at level 2 accounting.

AAT Accounting Level 4 Professional Diploma

Course Overview

With the aim of achieving full membership to the AAT, this course would be suitable to work in accounting in the future. It is helpful to already be working in the industry in order to complete this course. In level 4 of the AAT qualification, students will learn about company accounts, advance their management accounting skills to a senior level in order to provide information to support decisions. Plus students can choose two optional papers to specialise in Tax, Audit, Cash or Credit Management.

Course Requirements

Your age must be 19+. It is a professional course, so little bot experience may help you to learn advance skills. You must pass the Level 3 qualification. Good communication and numerical skill is required to enrol in this course.

Course Progression

Successful completion of this certification gives you MAAT status so you could set up your own accounting practice if you choose. It can lead to professional accountancy qualifications such as those of the ACCA- Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, CIMA- the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants and the ICA- Institute of Chartered Accounts.
