Overview

The Hull Finance Bootcamp is a 16-week, governmentfunded programme designed to give you practical bookkeeping and finance skills that employers in Hull are actively hiring for. Delivered by Future Connect Training, this Skills Bootcamp covers the full AAT Level 2 Certificate in Bookkeeping (603/5860/9) and has been co-designed with local accountancy firms. You’ll gain real-world finance knowledge, hands-on experience with accounting software (Sage, QuickBooks, Xero, Excel), and the confidence to step into an entry-level finance role.

  • Adults aged 19+ living in Hull or the surrounding area

  • People looking to start a career in finance, bookkeeping, or accounts

  • Small business owners and self-employed people wanting bookkeeping skills

Course Duration & Delivery

  • Duration: 16 Weeks

  • Format: Blended – live online classes with in-person activities at our Hull HU3 centre

  • Guided Learning Hours (GLH): 100

  • Sessions per week: 2 x 3.25hr sessions (6.5 GLH)

Curriculum Plan

  • Bookkeeping Essentials – Double-entry, ledgers, trial balance, and control accounts

  • Final Accounts & Reporting – Profit & loss, balance sheets, and adjustments

  • Tax & VAT – UK taxation basics, VAT schemes, and digital submission via Sage/Xero

  • Payroll Training – PAYE, RTI, and hands-on payroll processing with BrightPay/Sage

  • Ethics & Communication – AAT Code of Ethics, professionalism, and workplace conduct

  • Software Proficiency – Xero, QuickBooks, Sage for invoicing, reconciliations, and reporting

  • Employability Skills – CVs, LinkedIn, mock interviews, career planning and progression support
